Hospitality Training Scheme
Are you ready to jumpstart your career with an exciting and dynamic opportunity in the hospitality industry? Look no further than the Hospitality Apprenticeship Scheme North East!
This 18-month program is designed to give you hands-on experience across a range of departments, including food and beverage, housekeeping, reception, and kitchen. You’ll work alongside experienced professionals at Douneside House, learning the ins and outs of the hospitality industry while building valuable skills that will set you up for a successful career.
As part of the program, you’ll participate in Masterclasses, events, and updates with other apprentices, giving you the chance to network and make valuable connections in the industry. And with the guidance of a workplace mentor, you’ll receive individualized support and encouragement to help you succeed.
But that’s not all – at Douneside House, we offer a truly unique experience. Our hotel is owned and run by The MacRobert Trust, a charitable Trust based in Aberdeenshire. This gives us a strong focus on team development and values, so you can be sure that you’ll be joining a team that cares about your growth and development.
And the perks of working at Douneside House don’t stop there! Our hotel is located in the beautiful Royal Deeside, with 13 bedrooms and a range of holiday cottages and apartments. We also have an on-site Health Club with a swimming pool, gym, sauna, jacuzzi, and steam room, which our team can use and enjoy on their time off. Plus, we’re situated within Royal Horticulture Society Accredited Gardens, and every year six garden trainees join our team too to undertake horticulture training and qualifications.
So what are we looking for in an ideal apprentice? We want someone who is eager to learn new skills, loves working with and meeting new people, and is excited about a career in hospitality. And don’t worry if you don’t have any formal qualifications – the apprenticeship is open to anyone under 25 years old.
As an apprentice, you’ll earn the national living wage plus a share of gratuities. And to make your transition to the area as smooth as possible, we offer shared accommodation in the local village of Tarland.
Join us in September 2023 for an unforgettable learning experience and the chance to kickstart your career in hospitality!
Our hospitality training program has a proven track record of success. Don’t just take our word for it – here’s what some of our apprentices had to say.”
Although I am a bubbly person, I don’t always like change, so it was a big step for me to move into Douneside. But everyone was so welcoming, and the team became like a surrogate family; I feel lucky to have been chosen to do the apprenticeship.
When I first read about the HANE apprenticeship, the things that stood out for me were the rotations and the chance to try out more things rather than stay in one section. You get four months in each department, and I have learnt so much.
I was 16 when I started at Douneside. I took up the apprenticeship straight out of school, and when I first started, I was quiet and shy. But moving around the departments and working with so many different guests, I have come out of my shell and am really enjoying myself. I
never thought I could be this confident.
The masterclasses have been one of the best things, and even with Covid, they were taken online, so I didn’t miss out. I have also had the opportunity to present back to the next year’s apprenticeship intake. It made me realise how far I have come.
