Welcome to The MacRobert Trust’s training opportunities! Whether you are interested in starting a career in horticulture, hospitality, or professional cookery, we offer comprehensive training programs that provide valuable experience and qualifications.

Our apprenticeship opportunities, in partnership with Hospitality Apprenticeship North East, are based at Douneside House and offer a unique 18-month program that combines on-the-job training with industry-recognised qualifications. With opportunities to work in various departments, attend masterclasses, and receive mentorship from experienced professionals, this scheme is the perfect way to kick-start your career in the exciting and fast-paced world of hospitality or professional cookery. Alternatively, our Horticultural Training Scheme provides up to six trainees with an immersive year-long program that focuses on developing practical horticultural skills and enhancing professional career options. With training opportunities in pesticide application, chainsaw operation, and the RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture, our trainees gain valuable experience and knowledge that has resulted in 100% job placement success since 2010.

Hospitality Apprenticeship Scheme

Our Hospitality Apprenticeship Scheme offers a unique opportunity to gain practical training in the fast-paced world of hospitality. With a focus on hands-on experience and expert guidance, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge you need to thrive in this exciting industry. Horticultural Training Scheme

Our Horticultural Training Scheme provides hands-on experience in all aspects of plant cultivation, garden design, and maintenance. Working alongside experienced horticulturists and landscapers, you’ll gain practical skills and knowledge to help you succeed in the field of horticulture. The training programme is based at Douneside House, which is a RHS partner garden and RHS Qualifications Approved Centre.
